Two Johnston Rams Elected to Johnston Campus PTA
Congratulations to Robert Dominguez ('72) and Maricela Pena-Benitez ('68), on their electtion as the Vice-President and Secretary of the EMHS Johnston Campus PTA. We will need your help during the year to keep our Johnston traditions at the Johnston campus. Keep calling the school during the year to find out when the PTA and CAC (Campus Advisory Committee) meetings will held so that you can attend. No need to have children attending the school. Bring friends of Johnston as well. We can and will make a difference for the better at the Johnston campus.
Johnston Campus Community Meeting was held on Tuesday, May 1st in the Johnston Cafeteria. The group conducting the meeting will be presenting the survey findings to the superintendent and school board on Monday, May 21st. If you want your opinions to be part of the study, call the Johnston campus.
TEXAS MONUMENT PARADE ON 3-31-12
Thanks to all the Rams who helped to build a float to honor the Johnston High School students who died in Vietnam. The float was in the new Tejano Monument parade on Congress Avenue in downtown Austin on Saturday, March 31, 2012. Our float was one of the few real, traditional floats in the parade. The majority of the parade crowds on Congress Ave. in Austin were Johnston ex-students who, along with their family and friends gave the "Hook 'Em Rams" sign and yelled "Hooray Johnston High School", "Yay Rams" and "Rams forever" as the Johnston float came by. What a fabulous site that was to see as we all felt our Ram pride!
Help us plan fund raising tournaments and other activities to raise funds for our association in 2012.
YOUR INPUT AND PARTICIPATION IS VERY IMPORTANT.
WE WON! WE WON! WE WON!

Johnston Ram Jerseys, T-shirts, and Yearbooks
Used Johnston football jerseys for sale. The jerseys are white with red numbers and letters. There are 4 XL and 1 XXL jerseys which have Johnston in the front. Some are rugged looking from their use. There are also 7 XL jerseys and 2 XXL jerseys which were used in the TV series "Friday Night Lights". These are in good condition and have "East Dillon" sewn over the "Johnston" letters. You can take off the "East Dillon" part to reveal Johnston underneath and keep the "East Dillon" part as tv nostalgia item.
We have 8 yearbooks which were donated by Johnston alum Manuel Hernandez that will be auctioned. The yearbooks are from the years '68, '69, '70, '71, '72 (2), '76, and '79. Yearbooks are $40.
New Johnnston alumni t-shirts are for sale at $15 each. You can order and pick up t-shirts downtown M-F, 8-5, or order and arrange to meet evenings or on weekends for delivery. Order by sending an e-mail via this web-site. Alumni on the '80's Facebook page can order on the '80's Facebook page.

Johnston Press Conference
Our first conference was very successful. The purpose was to support the school district in the consolidation plan for the Johnston campus. The date was on Thursday, June 16th. We got TV coverage on 3 English stations and 2 Spanish stations. We had a small summary in the Austin American Statesman and may have a follow-up article soon. In addition, we had 2 community weekly newspapers, "La Prensa" and "La Voz" which had coverage for next weeks papers. Thanks to the speakers and to the Johnstonites in attendence for their support.
AISD BOARD MEETING
Monday, June 20th. There were only 5 persons that spoke at the citizens communications meeting. Four of the five were Johnston alumni that spoke in favor of the school district's plan to consolidate the 2 current schools into 1 school and to bring back Johnston as the first name of the new school. (The fifth person spoke about a totally different subject matter.)
